About Govt. Polytechnic College, Poonch

Govt. Polytechnic College Poonch was established in the year 2012 by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir along with 17 other Polytechnics in the State . Poonch is about 250km from Jammu. It is a small city surrounded by mountains from all sides. The journey takes about 9 hours by bus and 7-8 hours by Sumo. Frequent transport facility is available for Poonch. Its climate is very fine and not so hot like Jammu and cold like Kashmir. It is famous for lord Buddha Amar Nath Temple (Mandi, Distt. Poonch) , Akhara Mandir Poonch, Gurudwara at Nangali Sahib and Ziarat of Saint Sain Meera. Every year a yatra is held by the Govt. from Jammu for lord Buddha Amar Nath ji. Earlier the students had go to Jammu, Kashmir or outside the State for their Diploma Courses . But now they are being provided the Education at their door steps. Four batches of students have passed out. Some of them are doing their jobs while others are undergoing B. Tech. Courses under lateral Entry Scheme(LEET) in the leading Engineering colleges of India.
